Concept
The work explores a journey beyond anthropocentric perspectives, delving into the possibility of resonance with non-human beings. AI endows objects — stones, grass, trees, ants, roads — with identity, language, and melody, inviting audiences to experience the world from non-human viewpoints and offering a new form of empathy through the auditory manifestation of their voices.
Experience Design
From the center of the space, visitors hear one massive harmony; approaching a specific entity's zone of light, its individual melodic soliloquy becomes pronounced. Step onto the light of an entity and it begins to sing in human language; step away, and all sounds reintegrate into harmony. The open spatial composition lets viewers move freely — a nonlinear, non-hierarchical world of connected constellations.
Technology / Medium
A system synthesizing four AI models — ChatGPT for monologue generation, Supertone Shift for voice synthesis, Midjourney and RunwayML for visual concept development — generating contrapuntal harmonies based on audience proximity.
Process
Composed a capella structures and prototyped the multi-channel immersive sound installation through the SNU AI Art Hackathon, developing the polyphonic system and spatial scoring.
Outcome
Excellence Award at the AI Art Hackathon (Seoul National University AI Center, 2024). Presented at the ART DIFFUSION International Conference (2024), leading to recruitment by NMARA and full membership in the Korea Art Directors' Association.
Reflection
This is not simply about hearing non-human voices — it proposes singing with them. Collaborating with AI at its current strength, generating infinite personas, expanded the scale of worlds a single artist can envision.
